How to Generate UPI PIN using a UPI App?

UPI is the most famous and successful real-time payment interface in the world because of this, India has become a world leader when it comes to digital payments.

Around 6.28 billion transactions amounting to ₹10.62 trillion happened in the year 2022 and the financial year has not ended yet.

The growth of the UPI has risen to a record high number and this number will go up high further as the digital tech penetration increases in India as well as in other countries.

UPI also has a Global reach, now, UPI can be used by UAE, France, USA, UK, Singapore, and other nations as well.

UPI works using an app or using a USSD interface that gets connected to your bank account and acts like an access point for using your bank account for transactions.

You can make payments using the UPI by three means- using QR Code, A/C number + Bank IFSC Code + Using VPA.

For using the UPI, you’ll need to set a PIN that will secure your payments and transactions. In this article, we will discuss how to generate UPI PIN using a UPI App, how to reset UPI PIN, etc.

What is UPI PIN?

UPI PIN is a 4- or 6-digit pin set up by the user to add security to their UPI app. This will prevent any unauthorized person from logging into your UPI account and prevent any kind of illegal transactions. You should never share the UPI PIN with anyone as it will save you from any online fraud or illegal transaction.

How to Generate UPI PIN?

While registering for the UPI, you’ll be able to Generate the UPI PIN. It is one of the important steps which you’ll have to complete to make the registration of the UPI. The following are the step-by-step instructions on how to generate UPI PIN-

• Open a UPI App, preferably PAYTM, and navigate to the UPI’s Account Summary section
• In PAYTM, you can find that by clicking on the left-hand profile icon followed by clicking on the payment setting and UPI& Linked Account
• Now, you’ll find the list of UPI Accounts connected with your PAYTM Profile or if you are using any other app then you’ll find the same
• Now, if you’ve not set the UPI PIN then you’ll find the set PIN option listed which you’ll have to click
• After clicking on the button, you’ll have to enter the last 6 digits of your debit card followed by entering the expiry date
• An OTP will be sent on your registered mobile number which you’ll have to enter in the given field
• After entering the OTP, you’ll have to set a PIN of your own choice followed by clicking on the submit button
• Now, your UPI PIN has been successfully set and you’ll be able to use the UPI PIN

How to Reset your UPI PIN?

If you want to reset your UPI PIN, you can follow these steps-

• Open a UPI app preferably PAYTM, and login to your account followed by clicking on the profile icon in the left-hand corner
• Now, click on the payment setting and UPI & Linked Account setting under the payments setting
• You’ll find the list of UPI Accounts connected with your PAYTM Profile or if you are using any other app then you’ll find the same
• After that, you can find the change PIN under the listed bank account, click on the button
• An OTP will be sent from your registered mobile number which you’ll have to enter followed by setting up your PIN
• After setting up your PIN, your new UPI PIN will be set and you’ll be able to use the UPI PIN easily
