Types of Ration Card

BPL (Below Poverty Line) Cards

Poverty Live is an economic benchmark used by the government to decide whether a household needs governmental assistance or not.

The current poverty line in India is 1,286 Indian rupees per month in urban areas and 1059.42 Indian Rupees per month in rural areas.

Any household that earns below this threshold, comes below the poverty line and is eligible to apply for the BPL Cards which provide government assistance to them.

APL (Above Poverty Line) cards

Any household earning more than Rs.1,00,000/- is considered above the poverty line but still, the household can apply for an APL card which provides government assistance but not as much as BPL Cards.

AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Cards

The residents of Uttar Pradesh are issued this card by the state government who do not have any stable income source.

How to Apply for a Ration Card in Uttar Pradesh?

You can follow these steps to apply for the Ration Card-

  • Visit the official website of Uttar Pradesh Ration Card issuing department called Uttar Pradesh Food and Logistics Department
  • now click on the download section followed by clicking on the New Ration Card application link which will open up the downloadable form used for applying for Ration Card
  • Take a printout of the application form and start filling it with details like name, address, mobile number, Bank Account details, Bank IFSC Code, etc.
  • You’ll have to declare your income as well as your family members in the form
  • After filling out the form, visit the nearest Food and Logistics Department office near your area and submit the form along with the documents mentioned below
  • You’ll receive an acknowledgement slip which can be used for tracking your Ration Card status and other relevant information related to the application
  • After you’ve submitted the application form, the department will go through your application and check for your eligibility and based on that will issue a Ration Card which you’ll get at your resident home via Speed Post
