Step-by-Step Process to Transferring Address in Voter ID Card Offline

  • Visit your nearest Election Commission Office and ask for Form 8A, which is an application form for Transposition of Entry in the Electoral Roll from the nearest electoral office.
  • Fill out the form with details and attach an address proof of your new resident address like electricity bill, phone bill, etc.
  • Now, submit the form to the Election office representative and, you will be issued a reference number, which you can use to track your voter ID status.
  • Your application will be reviewed and upon successful verification, you will be issued a new Voter’s ID card with an updated address and you’ll receive an update on the addition of your name to the electoral roll.

  • Visit the official website of the Election Commission of India and navigate the Voter’s Services section
  • Now, you’ll be redirected to a new portal where you’ll find Form 8/ Shifting of residence/correction of entries in existing electoral roll/replacement of EPIC/marking of PwD button, you’ll have to click on the button
  • Now, login to your account or register yourself using your details like phone number, email, etc.
  • After logging in, you’ll have to fill out form 8, Some of the fields are pre-filled you’ll only have to fill in the fields which is empty
  • After that, upload the supporting documents and click on the submit button
  • You’ll receive a reference number which can be used to track your application
  • After successful verification, your voter’s ID card will be updated and sent to your new address
