After completing the process, your details from the old constituency will be transferred to the new constituency and you’ll be able to vote in this constituency. For changing the address, you can follow these steps-

Step-by-Step Process to Transferring Address in Voter ID Card Offline

• Visit your nearest Election Commission Office and ask for Form 8A, which is an application form for Transposition of Entry in the Electoral Roll from the nearest electoral office.
• Fill out the form with details and attach an address proof of your new resident address like electricity bill, phone bill, etc.
• Now, submit the form to the Election office representative and, you will be issued a reference number, which you can use to track your voter ID status.
• Your application will be reviewed and upon successful verification, you will be issued a new Voter’s ID card with an updated address and you’ll receive an update on the addition of your name to the electoral roll.

Step-by-Step Process to Transferring Address in Voter ID Card Online

• Visit the official website of the Election Commission of India and navigate the Voter’s Services section
• Now, you’ll be redirected to a new portal where you’ll find Form 8/ Shifting of residence/correction of entries in existing electoral roll/replacement of EPIC/marking of PwD button, you’ll have to click on the button
• Now, login to your account or register yourself using your details like phone number, email, etc.
• After logging in, you’ll have to fill out form 8, Some of the fields are pre-filled you’ll only have to fill in the fields which is empty
• After that, upload the supporting documents and click on the submit button
• You’ll receive a reference number which can be used to track your application
• After successful verification, your voter’s ID card will be updated and sent to your new address

Documents needed to change permanent address on Voter ID

The following are the documents needed to change the permanent address on the Voter’s ID card-

• A valid proof of address such as a driving license, passport, ration card, etc.
• A valid identity proof such as Aadhaar, PAN Card, etc.
• Two latest passport-sized photographs.
• A copy of the existing Voter ID card (both sides).
