The following are the eligibility criteria for opening a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana-
- The girl child must be a citizen of India and resident at the time of opening the account
- The maximum age for opening the SSY account is 10 years
- This account is only available for the girl child
- You can only open one account per girl child with a cap of two account within a family. More than two accounts are only allowed if the second pregnancy had duplets or for first pregnancy had triplets.

Visit your nearest Bank of India branch and ask the bank representative for the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account opening form
- Fill the form
After getting the form, fill the form with correct details and attach the documents mentioned below
- Submit the document
Now, submit the form to the bank representative along with the initial deposit amount
- Account opening successful
After successful processing your application, you’ll be notified about your account opening and you can start using your SSY Account for savings
- Get a passbook from the bank branch
Now, visit the bank branch and review your application and receive your bank passbook where you’ll find your account details which can be used to find transfer and balance check
Documents Required for Sukanya Samriddhi Account
The documents required for opening a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Account in the Bank of India is as follows-
- Birth certificate of the girl child
- Photo ID of parents or legal guardian- Aadhaar Card, Voter’s Card, etc.
- Address proof of parents or legal guardian
- Passport size photograph of the child and parent
One needs to pay the funds into this account till the girl child attains the age of 15. You also have an option to continue your contribution till maturity.
The minimum amount that you can deposit in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is Rs.250/- per year and the maximum amount for deposit is Rs.1.5 lakhs.
You can deposit funds multiple times in the account is a financial term as there are no limits, however, there is a maximum amount cap of Rs. 1.5 lakhs which you should not exceed.
If you’ve deposited more than the prescribed maximum amount then the amount which is exceeded will not get them any kind of benefits like interest, tax benefits, etc. That amount will be returned to you as it is.
