UPI is a payments network that provides a medium between your bank and the payments app. There are a lot of features which is offered by UPI one such feature is AutoPay.
AutoPay simply means a reoccurring payment that gets deducted automatically in a set period using the UPI.
You can set UPI AutoPay for a lot of services that you get like electricity, phone, broadband bill, etc. Every UPI user has a unique UPI ID which gets connected to their bank account.
Now, whenever you initiate a payment using this UPI ID, the payment request will initiate through the UPI Network and go to the connected bank. After clearance from the bank, the payment will be sent.

How to Enable UPI Autopay on the UPI app?
You can follow these steps to enable the UPI Autopay-
- Open your UPI app, here we are taking BHIM UPI app as an example and login to your account using your login credentials
- After logging in, you’ll have to navigate to the ‘Auto Debit’ button followed by the ‘Mandate’ button
- Now, you’ll have to manage the mandate by creating an e-Mandate UPI ID, QR scan, or Intent
- After that, you’ll have to set the payment frequency as one-time, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly
- In the next step, you’ll have to add the merchant name, select the auto-debit name and finally click on the proceed button
- Now, you’ll have to authenticate through a UPI PIN one-time and subsequent monthly payments would be debited automatically
How to Cancel a UPI Mandate?
The following are the steps to cancel a UPI Mandate-
- Open your UPI app, here we are taking BHIM UPI app as an example and login to your account using your login credentials
- After logging in, you’ll have to navigate to the ‘Auto Debit’ button followed by the ‘Mandate’ button
- Now, click on the manage button, here, you’ll see all the old UPI Mandate and select the mandate you want to delete followed by clicking on the delete button
