FAQ

Where to Install the FASTag Device on my vehicle?

You can install the FASTag device on your vehicle windshield from the inside ensuring that from the outside it is clearly visible. The device comes with an adhesive and you have to remove the sticker and attach the device to your windshield.

I have a two-wheeler. Do I have to install the FASTag device?

No, two-wheelers are exempted from the FASTag device. You can use the toll plaza without having had to pay for it. Any vehicle with more than two wheels must have the FASTag device installed otherwise, you will be charged twice the amount of the toll tax.

The toll plaza operator is asking me to pay the toll tax in cash. How to deal with this situation?

You have to ensure while traveling through a toll tax you recharge your FASTag device beforehand to avoid any displeasure. If you have a sufficient balance in your account then the toll operator cannot force you to pay the toll tax in cash.
You have to ask the operator for the reason for cash demand. If he/she says that the scanner is not working or for any other reason which involves an issue from the toll tax side then as per the law you can ask for a free commute.

I have another car with me. Can I use this device on my other vehicle?

No, you cannot use your FASTag device on another vehicle. You have to apply for the FASTag device separately for your other vehicles. The FASTag device is mapped specifically for your vehicle and you cannot interchange it with any other device.

I want to sell my vehicle. Should I keep the FASTag device installed on the vehicle?

No, you have to remove the FASTag device as the device is mapped specifically for your vehicle in your name. You do not want others to use your name to pay the toll tax as it could lead to a security risk for you.

What to do with the damaged or removed FASTag device?

If your FASTag device is damaged or removed from your vehicle then you can surrender your FASTag device by requesting the Central Bank of India by visiting the bank branch. After surrendering your FASTag device, you can also claim the deposit amount which is charged upfront while purchasing the FASTag device.
