The following are the steps that you’ll have to follow to apply for an Aadhaar card online-

  • Visit the official website of the UIDAI and navigate to the My Aadhaar section
  • After that, you’ll have to click on the Book an Appointment tab
  • After clicking on the Book an Appointment tab, you’ll be redirected to a new tab where you’ll have to first choose whether you are a resident or non-resident
  • Now, enter your mobile number and solve the captcha followed by entering the OTP to login into your account
  • After logging in, you’ll have to click on the new enrolment button followed by entering basic details and the type of enrolment you want to proceed with i.e.- Document based Head of Family based, or introducer based
  • After that, you’ll be redirected to the appointment scheduling step for which you’ll have to choose the nearest enrolment center and date and time for visiting the enrolment center
  • After that, an appointment slip will be provided for which you’ll have to take a printout
  • Now, you’ll have to visit the enrolment and enter the date and time mentioned on the appointment letter with all the documents mentioned below
  • After the successful processing of your information, you’ll be provided with the acknowledgment slip and within 90 days you’ll receive your Aadhaar card at your residence.

  • Valid School Identity card/Identity Card issued by recognized educational institutions (during study course time i.e. while on the rolls only)
  • Transgender ID card/ Certificate issued under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Right) Act, 2019
  • School Leaving Certificate (SLC)/ School Transfer Certificate (TC)/ Extract of School Records issued by Head of School/ SSLC book/ SSC certificate containing name and Address
  • Signed Letter having Photo issued by Recognized Educational Institution on letterhead or Photo ID having address issued by Recognized Educational Institution
  • Electricity Bills (not older than 3 months) including prepaid receipts
  • Water Bill (not older than 3 months)

  • Allotment letter of accommodation issued by Central/ State Govt. (not more than 3 years old)
  • Marriage Certificate issued by the Government containing Name and address
  • Valid Long-Term Visa (LTV) along with Foreign Passport (valid or expired) of origin country issued to minorities communities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan namely Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jain, Parsis and Christians
  • Valid Visa (if comprises of Indian address) along with Foreign Passport (valid only) issued in case of other Foreign Nationals who has stayed in India for 182 days or more in the 12 months
  • Certificate of Address issued on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update by:
    • MP/ MLA/ MLC/ Municipal Councilor.
    • Tehsildar/ Gazetted Officer Group ‘A’/ Gazetted Officer Group ‘B’/EPFO Officer
    • Superintendent/ Warden/ Matron/ Head of Institution of recognized shelter homes or orphanages
    • Recognized Educational Institution signed by Head of Institute
    • Village Panchayat Head or Mukhiya or its equivalent authority (for rural areas), Village Panchayat Secretary or VRO or equivalent (for rural areas)

  • For Exception cases of Name Change: Adoption certificate
  • For Exception cases of Gender Change: Medical Certificate from allopathic doctors, in case resident changed gender surgically
