The following are the steps to apply for an Aadhaar card as a foreigner-

  • Visit the official website of the UIDAI Aadhaar portal and navigate to the my Aadhaar section followed by clicking on the Book an Appointment button
  • Now, select your residence status and enter your mobile number/email ID followed by solving the captcha and clicking on the send OTP button
  • An OTP will be sent to your mobile number or email which you’ll have to enter in the given field
  • After verifying the OTP, you’ll be redirected to the main dashboard where you’ll have to click on the new enrolment button
  • Now, enter your name, date of birth, gender, and resident status, and click on the proceed button
  • After that, you’ll have to select whether you have a valid address proof or wanted to enroll your relative with valid relationship proof
  • After selecting the option, you’ll have to enter your address and contact details like mobile number and email ID followed by selecting the document of proof of identity, address, and birth
  • Since you are a foreign national, you can choose a passport for all the three document requirement
  • Now, click on the proceed button and you’ll be redirected to the new page where click on the disclosure button followed by clicking on the submit button
  • After clicking on the submit button, you can now select the appointment date and time from the appointment scheduling system. You’ll also have to find the Aadhaar enrolment center from the system itself
  • After scheduling your appointment, visit the Aadhaar enrolment center with the documents i.e. passport also, and keep some additional documents like visa, identity proof, etc.
  • At the enrolment center, you’ll have to go through the enrolment process of giving your biometric details along with the photograph
  • After completion of the process, you can get the Aadhaar card at your mentioned address within 90 days from the date of application

  • A valid Passport is mandatory Proof of Identity (PoI)
  • Birth Certificate

FAQ

Can I give an International mobile number in my Aadhaar details?

No, the Aadhaar enrolment process requires an Indian number and there is no support for international/non-Indian mobile numbers.

The Address is not updated in my passport can I still apply for an Aadhaar card?

Yes, you can apply for the Aadhaar card with your passport as proof of identity, and proof of birth but, for Proof of identity, you’ll have to provide another document that has an updated address.

Can my passport be used for the Aadhaar update of my spouse?

If your passport has the name of your spouse, then it can be used as Proof of Address for them.
