Prerequisites to avail DOP for internet banking

According to the FAQs mentioned on the official website, a person needs to fulfill specific requirements to avail DOP internet banking. These requirements are as follows:

  1. Valid and active single or joint account
  2. KYC document (if it had not been submitted earlier)
  3. An active debit cum ATM card
  4. Registered mobile number and email id
  5. Registered PAN number with the post office

Activate Post Office Internet Banking Facility

To activate post office internet banking facility, you will have to make a physical visit to the nearest post office and submit the pre-printed application form for the same to the authorities. The online banking service would be activated the next working day from the submission of the application form. Once the net banking facility is successfully activated, you will be notified about it through an SMS alert on your registered mobile phone.

Configure Internet Banking Login

Activation of internet banking is just the first part of using this facility. You would also need to configure it at the website with the use of the hyperlink “New User Activation” sent in an SMS format to your registered mobile number. The configuration process would require your CIF ID (or your customer ID which is printed in the first page of the passbook) along with your account ID. You would also have to set up security questions and their answers for security reasons. You need to fill in all the essential details and set up login and transaction passwords for the post office internet banking. Once everything has been filled up, you can start using internet banking for your post office account(s).

The PO internet banking works in the same way as regular bank’s net banking. Here you can engage in funds transfer (both to self and third party), open and close Term Deposits (TD) account and RD account, send money to the RD account, withdraw money from the PPF account (dependent on eligibility criteria), and many more.
