BHIM UPI App- Generate PIN, Reset PIN, Change PIN

With the hype of the Digital India payment using the digital means is becoming popular and this in turn in a very short time made a huge spot in the financial sector. Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is one such digital payment app. BHIM is a payments app that lets you make simple, easy and quick transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI). You can make direct bank payments to anyone on UPI using their UPI ID or scan their QR with the BHIM app. You can also request money through the app from a UPI ID. This app’s function as a gateway of payment and the transaction is done online. This is an initiative by P.M Narendra Modi who sees a dream along with 1.2 billion Indians to make India cashless and promoting the “Digital India”.

How is UPI different from other Digital wallets?

UPI is a different concept from Digital payment as this app does not create a separate digital wallet for any transaction. This directly utilizes the bank account for the payment. This charges very less amount of money for the transaction as compared to other payment gateways like NEFT, IMPS etc.

How to do Set PIN in BHIM UPI app?

Step 1 –Download and install BHIM UPI app Developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for your device

Download app for iPhone- App Store

Step 2– The app ask for setting up the password. Set a 4- digit easy to remember the password.

Step  3– choose the SIM that is connected to the bank account and proceed next. The app will send a message from your mobile phone (charges may apply).

Step  4– Now select your bank in which you have an account. After this, the app will show you the account linked with your number. Verify the account with last digit displayed.

Step  5– After this, the app asks to set up the UPI pin. After this, the app is ready to receive or pay using this.

USSD Code Banking using *99# number

Now, BHIM uses a USSD Code Banking Feature so having a Smartphone is not necessary as there is a quick service that utilizes a USSD Code system for the money transaction. The following are the steps to set pin using the *99# service.

Step 1– Dial *99# in your dial pad and press the call button.

Step 2– Select the preferred language.

Step 3- Select the Bank Account.

Step 4-Enter the last 6- digit of your debit card followed by the expiry date for example 2245630074

Step 5- Set your new 6 digit UPI Pin twice.

Step 6- UPI Pin is set and now you can use this service without any initial set up.

How to do money transfer from BHIM UPI?

Step 1– Open your BHIM app and enter a passcode.

Step 2– Press the ‘Send’ tab.

Step 3– There will be three options ‘Contacts’, ‘A/C+IFSC’, and Saved choose any option appropriately.

Step 4-Enter the amount of money you want to send along with the remarks (if any).

Step 5-Enter the UPI PIN and press continue.

How to reset your UPI PIN?

Step 1– In the main app interface after logging in with the passcode, go to the ‘Bank Account’ tab by pressing it.

Step 2– you will see two options choose ‘Reset UPI PIN’ option.

Step 3– Now the app asks for the last 6 digit Debit card and the validity date.

Step 4– The app will send an OTP. Type the OTP in the given space.

Step 5– Now set your new UPI PIN.

How to change UPI PIN?

Step 1– In the main app interface after logging in with the passcode,  go to the ‘Bank Account’ tab by pressing it.

Step 2– Choose the option ‘Change UPI PIN’.

Step 3– Enter the existing PIN followed by the new PIN. Your new PIN is set.
