Ayushman Bharat Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana or National Health Protection scheme is a health care protection scheme that is a centrally sponsored scheme. Ayushman Bharat Yojana aims to reduce the financial burden on poor and vulnerable groups arising out of catastrophic hospital episodes and ensure their access to quality health services. PM-JAY is the world’s largest healthcare scheme, and it seeks to accelerate India’s progress towards achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC)

Features of Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Ayushman Bharat Yojana
  • Cover of up to Rs. 5,00,000 per entitled family per year in case of hospitalization
  • 50 crore beneficiaries covered across the country
  • No enrollment process is required
  • No cap on family size or age of the member, every member of the family gets covered under this scheme
  • Free treatment available at all public and impaneled private hospitals
  • 1,350 medical packages covering surgery, medical and daycare treatments, cost of medicines and diagnostics

Eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Yojana

The following categories are automatically included in this scheme which is as follows-

For Rural

  • Only one room with kuccha walls and kuccha roof
  • No adult member between age 16 to 59
  • Female-headed households with no adult male member between age 16 to 59
  • Disabled member and no able-bodied adult member
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe households
  • Landless households deriving a major part of their income from manual casual

For Urban

  • Rag picker
  • Beggar
  • Domestic worker
  • Street vendor/ Cobbler/hawker / Other service provider working on streets
  • Construction worker/ Plumber/ Mason/ Labour/ Painter/ Welder/ Security guard/
  • Coolie and another head-load worker
  • Sweeper/ Sanitation worker / Mali
  • Home-based worker/ Artisan/ Handicrafts worker / Tailor
  • Transport worker/ Driver/ Conductor/ Helper to drivers and conductors/ Cart puller/ Rickshaw puller
  • Shop worker/ Assistant/ Peon in small establishment/ Helper/Delivery assistant / Attendant/ Waiter
  • Electrician/ Mechanic/ Assembler/ Repair worker
  • Washer-man/ Chowkidar

How to Check Eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Yojana online?

You can check the Eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Yojana by using the online portal of the PM-JAY. You can check the eligibility by following these steps-

  • Visit the online portal of PM-JAY Am I Eligible
  • Enter the Mobile Number followed by Solving the Captch and press Generate OTP
  • Enter the OTP received as an SMS and click on the verify button
  • You will be redirected to other page here you can check the eligibility by using the following details
    • Mobile number/Ration Card Number (collected during ADCD drive
    • SECC Name
    • RSBY URN
